Which hosting account would be best for me?

January 24th, 2012 by admin Leave a reply »

F.A.Q:

“Ok, I have a number of sites, approx 50 that I would like to amalgamate to one hosting plan. I currently use about 2 shared hosting plans.

I just got a hostgator VPS level 3 account but, just 4 sites on it so far and I’m already hitting the "upper memory limit" knocking out apache, this has happened twice.

My sites are wordpress sites and I guess some of my plugins are resource pigs, such as digi traffic multiplier and digi auto links.

What I want to know is what are my best options?
Continue with multiple shared accounts?
Get a higher vps account?
switch to reseller? (for the same price as level 3 vps I get twice the bandwidth and tons more disk space)

I’m at a loss here and Im not sure what to do… Please someone with some technical background give me a hand here without trying to throw out affiliate links please.

Thanks in advance.

    I would switch hosts, personally.

You should check out Site5.com’s VPS with Multi-admin. One hosting account, multiple sites/domains, and some of the best tech support I’ve ever come across. The pricing is pretty competitive, too, even for VPS. It has 11 separate tiers for VPS, so you can upgrade or downgrade as needed.

The also recently started offering cloud VPS.

If I were in your position, I would:

    Go with a reseller account
    Lose the plugins.

    Or

    Keep the plugins
    Go with a dedicated server.

Just because you’re on a reseller account doesn’t mean the plugins won’t hog the resources.

Those plugins are going to do 2 things for you:

Keep knocking you off of servers because of resources
Your blogs will eventually be knocked out of google because of panda.
